law.

Ramirez joins the Technology Tree Group
The Technology Tree Group is proud
to announce the addition of Francisco J.
Ramirez as Senior General Counsel for the
Technology Tree Group. He brings years of
experience in the areas of contracts and
transactional documentation, civil
litigation, corporate governance,
commercial, and engineering and construction
law.
Francisco Ramirez has over twenty years of
experience in managing legal, procurement,
marketing, and logistics activities in
domestic and international assignments. He
worked for eleven years at a major
multi-national engineering and construction
company in projects around the world.
Francisco has also worked for smaller
companies involved in international trade.
He is a business consultant for the Houston
Minority Business Council, and he has been
an instructor at the University of Houston's
Small Business Development Center and the
Southwestern Professional Institute. He is
active on the boards of several non-profit
corporations and a member of numerous
professional and business organizations.
Francisco Ramirez is an attorney licensed by
the State bar of Texas. He obtained a law
degree from the South Texas College of Law,
an M.B.A. in International Business and a
B.S. in Economics from the University of
Houston. He is also President of Francisco
Ramirez & Associates, P.C., Attorneys at
Law.

Peterson joins the Technology Tree Group
Larry Peterson
has agreed to become a Partner with the
Technology Group for Government Relations.
He has been a serial entrepreneur,
previously building two Information
Technology companies in west Texas and New
Mexico. Each company was the largest,
regionally based systems integrator for its
time, and each was sold after a handful of
years, the first for seven figures, at age
27. He is a founder and director of
many technology related efforts in Texas,
New Mexico, and his current home, El Paso,
Texas.
Larry is immediate-Past Chair of the Texas
Lyceum Association, the statewide leadership
organization that has among its alumni
President George Bush, Governor Rick Perry,
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, and many of the
other statewide candidates we see each
election cycle.
He chairs the statewide Economic Growth
Policy Advisory Group, focused on developing
state policy in support of entrepreneurial
growth companies, streamlined tech transfer,
and capital formation. He also serves
on the TWIG, the Texas Technologies
Initiatives Working Group (founded by Dr.
George Kozmetsky and co-chaired by Dr. Jane
Armstrong), and the New Mexico analogous
organization, the New Mexico Technology
Research Corridor. He is also a board
member of the statewide Texas Capital
Coalition, focused on the development of
preseed, seed and early stage capital
resources in Texas.

1/14/05 - Dr. David S.
Birsa joins the Technology Tree Group's
Board of Advisors
The Technology
Tree Group is pleased to announce that Dr.
David S. Birsa, who recently retired from
ChevronTexaco Corporation, has joined
Technology Tree Group's Board of Advisors.
With over 30 years experience in the
worldwide petroleum industry, Dr. Birsa
began his oil and gas industry career with
Texaco, Inc. in Bellaire, Texas in 1972.
Later joining Chevron, Inc. in Denver,
Colorado, and has held a series of positions
that have expanded his responsibilities,
including Division Research Manager for
Chevron Oilfield Research Company in La
Habra, California; General Manager
Exploration for Chevron UK, Ltd. in London,
England; Chief Geologist for Chevron
Overseas Petroleum, Inc. in San Ramon,
California; and Vice President of Technical
Planning and New Ventures in Jakarta,
Indonesia.
Dr. Birsa has a Bachelor of Science and a
Master of Science degree from Ohio State
University and a Ph.D. from the University
of Texas. He has served on Advisory
Boards for both universities (College of
Natural Sciences at Ohio State University
and Geology Foundation Advisory Council at
the University of Texas). He has been
a member of numerous professional societies
around the world throughout his career.

pivitol role in our efforts.

members. Ken
Marsh, award winning author of Fearless
Networking has been chosen to be Director of
Human Capital and
C. Kevin Moore, CPA has been chosen our
Chief Financial Officer.
These outstanding business leaders bring
decades of experience to their respective
positions.
12/13/04 - The
Technology Tree Group and NASA have
executed a Space Act Agreement
Technology Tree Group, Inc.
(TTG) and the Innovative Partnership Program
of NASA’s Exploration Systems Mission
Directorate have executed a Space Act
Agreement (SAA). The purpose of this Space
Act Agreement is to facilitate commercial
development and market-entry of innovative
technologies in ways that contribute to U.S.
prosperity and to the performance of the
NASA mission of exploration and discovery.
TTG will participate in NASA’s Alliance for
Small Business Opportunity (NASBO) to
facilitate bringing cutting edge technology
to market. NASBO is an initiative of the
Small Business Innovation Research program (SBIR).
Under this
agreement Technology Tree Group will:

Facilitate
the commercial development and
deployment of innovative technologies.
This is crucial in NASA’s ongoing
efforts towards reducing the cost for
technologies necessary for space
exploration.

Perform
market and technology assessments on
selected technologies. This will help
streamline the efforts of NASA in its
quest for the best technologies.

Engage in
additional collaborative efforts as
mutually agreed upon. Both parties
believe that this is merely the
beginning of a mutually beneficial
relationship.
TTG is pleased
to assist in improving the performance of
NASA’s mission of exploration and
discovery. NASA and TTG recognize
they are among the many leaders in this
process, including SBIR contractors, NASA
centers and other NASA Research and

Technology Conference
The Technology
Tree Group, a cutting edge angel investment
firm, will join USA Today newspaper and U.S.
News & World Report magazine as Platinum
Sponsors of the
Healthcare Capital Connections Conference
in Washington, DC where the focus will be on
emerging technologies and healthcare
innovation issues. The latter two
organizations will be media sponsors. Invited
speakers to this prestigious event include
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY); meanwhile, former
Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is
confirmed to speak at this event.
The event will be
co-chaired by Jay Srini, Vice President of
Emerging Technologies at the University of
Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the
Technology Tree’s Rick Holdren. In addition to Mr. Holdren’s oversight as co-chair of this event;
Mike Fitzgerald, CEO of
Technology Tree will be one of the featured

the investment field including representatives
of Maryland Technology Development and Hirschler Fleischer.
The purpose of the
event is to allow the leaders of the next
generation in new technology to have a forum
to show their promising work to some of the

investors, angel investors will provide some

taking an innovative idea all the way to the
market place. The three day event (November
